Enlisted Dinner Honors Enlisted Men & Women of Scott Air Force Base & WWII Veterans

The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce Belle-Scott Committee hosted their 69th Annual Enlisted Dinner on Thursday, March 14th at the St. Clair Country Club to honor the enlisted men and women of Scott Air Force Base and thank them for their bravery, commitment, and sacrifice to our nation. This is an annual, sold-out event that reminds the community each year of the important role Scott Air Force Base plays in the metro-east. “The Enlisted Dinner is Belleville’s opportunity to show our deep appreciation to Scott’s enlisted members for their service and sacrifice,” said Geri Boyer, the Belle-Scott Committee Civilian Chairman. “This year we hosted 100 enlisted. Help the Chamber “Drive Away Hunger” in our area

Belleville Schools’ 12th Annual “Drive Away Hunger” food drive will kick off on Wednesday, March 20th and will continue thru Friday, April 12th, 2019. Donated items will benefit the following food pantries in Belleville: Interfaith-St. Paul’s, St. Vincent de Paul Cathedral & Union United Methodist. The items collected will be delivered on Tuesday, April 16th. The demand on our food pantries is overwhelming and they need our help. As we come together as a community to help drive away hunger, keep in mind the impact a community has on one another. Every item makes a difference. The Commitment to Community Award is presented quarterly to a Chamber Member who demonstrates a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents and/or businesses in the greater Belleville area. The Ambassadors are honored to present this quarter’s award to Rose Marie Fitzgerald. Rose Marie is born and raised in the Belleville area. She currently lives in Millstadt and is truly a gem in this community. Rose Marie retired from Commerce Bank where she worked with their Senior Partners planning group trips ranging from day trips around the area to cruises and more. With peak heating season upon us, Ameren Illinois is offering an important reminder when it comes to natural gas safety both at home and in the workplace. We rely on natural gas to cook our food, heat our water, heat our homes and businesses and dry our clothes. Ameren Illinois delivers that safe and reliable natural gas to 816,000 residential and business customers via 18,300 miles of transmission/distribution pipeline. The company is investing in the natural gas system (e.g. replacing vintage steel pipes) across its 43,700 square-mile service territory but for a wide variety of reasons, gas leaks can occur. The most common causes, include: old brass stove connectors, piping connections and inadvertent contact with natural gas pipelines during outdoor excavating projects.
