Belleville has a great parks system, ran by Belleville Parks and Recreation, including 18 parks with a collective size of approximately 250 acres. Many of the parks have playgrounds, walking trails, sporting fields, and pavilions. Some additional specialty parks include a dog park and skateboard park. Some of the walking trails link up to bike trails throughout Belleville, connecting with other area bike trails. Parks & Rec. also host a few special events throughout the year including Daddy Daughter Dance, Tour de Belleville Bike Ride, Gingerbread 5K Run/Walk, Easter Egg Hunt, and Fishing Derby.
Festivals & Holidays
Throughout the year, you can find a variety of festivals filling the streets of Belleville. These festivals bring the community together. Some of the most popular festivals include the Belleville Chili Cook-off, Oktoberfest, Art on the Square, multiple Belleville Main Street events throughout the year, and more. You can find a calendar of events here.
During the holiday season, Belleville’s Main Street is decked with seasonal light post decorations and some garland on downtown bump outs. The downtown area comes alive with Santa on the Square, the Christkindlmarkt, horse-drawn trolley rides, the Santa Parade, carolers, a gingerbread walk and more.
