On Wednesday, August 7th, the Chamber’s Education Committee will host their annual Back to School Fun Fair at Belleville West High School from 5-7 p.m. Students from the Belleville elementary Chamber Member schools* and their families will be invited to attend. Families in attendance will receive valuable information from our business leaders while participating in activities that will allow them to leave with a backpack full of school supplies in preparation for the new school year. The event will celebrate the new school year with games, activities, snacks and more. The Education Committee hopes to provide up to 1,000 backpacks for our school-age children, but sponsorships and vendors are essential to the success of this event. The Otto Golf Classic is Monday, May 13 and the Chamber is looking to our members to donate items for the golfer goody bags. Items can range from branded golf tees, mugs, sunscreen, tumblers, golf umbrellas, food vouchers and much more! 144 individual items are needed to fill all golfer bags. With peak heating season upon us, Ameren Illinois is offering an important reminder when it comes to natural gas safety both at home and in the workplace. We rely on natural gas to cook our food, heat our water, heat our homes and businesses and dry our clothes. Ameren Illinois delivers that safe and reliable natural gas to 816,000 residential and business customers via 18,300 miles of transmission/distribution pipeline. The company is investing in the natural gas system (e.g. replacing vintage steel pipes) across its 43,700 square-mile service territory but for a wide variety of reasons, gas leaks can occur.
