Chamber Staff Shares Favorite Holiday Traditions and Memories

It’s that time of year when everyone is buying presents, baking cookies, and decorating their trees. Or is it? What is your favorite holiday memory? Wendy Pfeil: My favorite Christmas memory was about 15 years ago. My grandma was entering her last days and family was staying with her around the clock. I had the privilege of staying with her December 23-24 so our usual Christmas Eve tradition would not happen, Church, Chili, gifts, in fact, there was nothing cooked for that evening. The entire family gathered in my Grandma’s room Christmas Eve to spend it with her. As my Aunts came in to relieve me, my mom was upset that our tradition would not happen but that lead to one of my favorite memories. Tis the season to be Thankful

The trees are changing colors, it’s getting darker outside and the temperatures are falling. The holidays are quickly approaching and we are starting to reflect on the last year and think about what we are thankful for this year. Here are some of our staff’s thoughts. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? Wendy Pfeil: There are so many things to be thankful for, first I am thankful for my family that through all the craziness of 2018, we are still able to sit down at dinner and laugh together. Chamber Hosts A Successful Back to School Fun Fair

The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee hosted their annual Back to School Fun Fair on Wednesday, August 8 at Belleville West High School where area students came to receive a free backpack full of school supplies and celebrate the coming school year. Along with their backpack full of supplies, students were also provided with a dental exam from Dental Safari. Families were also invited to celebrate back to school with a bounce house, outdoor games and a complimentary drink, hotdog and chips. The event focused on providing area students with the supplies needed to kick off a good year. This year the event brought together over 600 children from across the Belleville area. The annual Chili Chase occurs each year alongside the popular Chili Cook off. This year the Chili Chase will occur on October 6th, 2018 @ 9 AM and will take participants through the streets of Historic Downtown Belleville beginning at East Main & Church. Participants will be able to experience the beauty of Belleville as they race against their friends and family for a chance to win a trophy or medal. The Chili Chase is a perfect time to explore Belleville and share an experience with family and friends. Anyone at any age will enjoy the race and the subsequent chili cook off that night.
