Thousands of locals are gearing up for the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce’s 36th annual Chili Cook-Off in Downtown Belleville on October 11 and 12, 2019 from 11:00am to 10:30pm both days. What began with just a few vendors on one block of East Main Street in downtown Belleville is now one of Belleville’s largest events celebrating the culinary creations from over 60 vendors, representing individuals, local organizations and area businesses. Thousands every year come to enjoy the great chili, entertainment and other festivities, but most don’t realize that the Chili Cook-off is the biggest fundraiser of the year for many non-profit organizations that take part. On Wednesday, August 7th, the Chamber’s Education Committee will host their annual Back to School Fun Fair at Belleville West High School from 5-7 p.m. Students from the Belleville elementary Chamber Member schools* and their families will be invited to attend. Families in attendance will receive valuable information from our business leaders while participating in activities that will allow them to leave with a backpack full of school supplies in preparation for the new school year. The event will celebrate the new school year with games, activities, snacks and more. The Education Committee hopes to provide up to 1,000 backpacks for our school-age children, but sponsorships and vendors are essential to the success of this event.
