Welcome to our new Belleville Main Street Committee Manager

Belleville Main Street and the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Alex Matthews as the new Main Street Manager. He has hit the ground running and will be working with our Main Street Committee to promote the Downtown District. We have a unique and vibrant downtown and their focus is to showcase it to those who live and work in the area. Alex has worked in attraction/tourism/hospitality marketing in and around Belleville for over 12 years. He previously worked as the Marketing Director for the company that opened the Hofbrauhaus in Belleville. Prior to his experience there he worked in marketing for ILLINOISouth Tourism and the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. Greater Belleville Chamber Joins “Chambers All In for Economic Recovery” Initiative

The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce is all in, and has joined the Chambers All In for Economic Recovery initiative. This initiative calls upon our legislators across the state to prioritize economic relief for the business community in the wake of a devastating year. The platform below was designed collaboratively with the business community’s input to identify items that our state legislature should consider to spur short- and long-term economic relief. Chambers All in for Economic Recovery calls for:  The creation of a formalized private and public sector-led collaborative commission with the goal of understanding and responding to the ongoing pandemic and the long-term economic challenges of COVID-19  An extension of policy exempting unemployment benefits claims from affecting the employer’s contribution rate for those layoffs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic Installation of tax credits and incentives to eligible businesses that…

Belleville School’s Drive Away Hunger

A Letter from Belleville Dist. #118 Superintendent, Ryan Boike: Hello to everyone. In the past we, as a District, have come together in a service project called “Drive Away Hunger”. This project was created by our District Character Education Committee. The response to our efforts to “drive away hunger” in our community has been overwhelming and as a result, we have delivered over 165,000 items on school buses to our Belleville food pantries. We will hold the 13th annual Drive Away Hunger service project this year. This year to make the donation bigger and better, we will continue to partner with other schools in the Belleville community. There are many more individuals and families struggling this year and the food pantries are in desperate need of supplies. Simply put, they need our help. The project…
