Congratulations to this year’s Annual Award honorees
Over 400 business and community members joined the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce Thursday night for their Annual Dinner and Silent Auction at the St. Clair County Event Center where the Chamber awarded seven area leaders in the community. Breakthru Beverage & The Callison Family, Eckert Florist, FKG Oil Company, and Hanks Excavating & Landscaping, Inc. were awarded Business Excellence awards. Terri Dambacher (CompuType IT Solutions), Susan Barsaloux (Chiro-med Belleville), and Mark Turner (Memorial Hospital) were awarded individual awards.
Terri Dambacher, the recipient of the Ambassador of the Year award, served as Chair of the Ambassador Committee in 2019. She has volunteered with the Chamber for multiple years and been involved in many different Chamber events. She has also been a multi-year participant in the Chamber’s Total Resource Campaign.
Susan Barsaloux was honored the Leadership Belleville Alumni of the Year award and is a graduate of the Belleville Chamber’s 2011 Leadership Belleville Class. Susan continues to use the expertise she learned during the program, which includes the value of community, through her continued support of the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce and other organizations throughout the community. What started as part of her Leadership Belleville adventure, she built the Annual Chiro-Med of Belleville Winter Luau 5K and Main Street Mile, which donates thousands of dollars to Special Olympics, and has continued to do so for the last 10 years. She is the past co-race director of the Get Up & Go Biathlon. She has been a board member of the YMCA and a Specialist for the Get Up & Go Movement. She is also a member of the Belleville Running Club. She can be seen volunteering at many community events. Her dedication to community spirit is seen in all that she does.
Mark Turner was honored as the 2019 Citizen of the Year. Turner is the president for Memorial Hospital in Belleville and exhibits integrity and compassion; truly caring about those he works with and the patients they serve throughout the community. He has led significant growth during his time as president including the construction and opening of the Orthopedic and Neurosciences Center, Memorial Hospital East, and the building of two medical officed on East’s campus including the new Siteman Cancer Center. Under his leadership, the hospital has also been recognized in the top 6% of hospitals nationwide in 2018. Turner also serves on multiple leadership boards throughout the community.
In addition to the individual awards, Breakthru Beverage & The Callison Family, Eckert Florist, FKG Oil Company, and Hanks Excavating & Landscaping, Inc. were presented Business Excellence Awards, the most prestigious award given by the Chamber to businesses that best show evidence of success given a company’s expansion and financial accomplishments, development and/or utilization of innovative or creative business methods, and contributions to community. All of the organizations are based out of the Belleville area.
